Ilmenite Powder
Catalog NO.: AIMRSE-CHM-ADD-173 Manufacturer PN: CHM-PWD-ILM
• Its characteristics of small particle size, roundness, high acid solubility, and high permeability recovery value enable it to effectively protect the producing formation. Its settling velocity in water is far lower than that of barite, making it an ideal material for drilling wells with narrow density windows and under drilling conditions where equivalent circulating density control is critical.
Can be used alone or blended with other weighting agents to enhance drilling fluid density. Suitable for deepwater wells, narrow density window operations, high-temperature wells, and other drilling conditions demanding stringent ECD equivalent circulating density requirements, reducing the risk of high-density drilling fluid sedimentation.
This product is a titaniferous iron ore powder produced through a special grinding process, used to increase drilling fluid density. Compared to barite, its key characteristics include: a specific gravity of approximately 4.6, an average particle size D50 of only 5 microns, near-perfect roundness and sphericity, and weak magnetic properties. These attributes enable drilling fluids formulated with this product to maintain relatively low rheology and lower equivalent circulating density, reducing the risk of sedimentation. This makes it particularly advantageous for drilling extended-reach wells or ultra-long horizontal wells while also facilitating formation protection.
