Engineering for the Abyss: In the unforgiving environment of the deep ocean, where pressures exceed 4,000 PSI and saltwater actively attacks every metal surface, component failure is not an option. AIMRSE specializes in the design, manufacture, and supply of mission-critical components for Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs). Our inventory bridges the gap between commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) availability and bespoke aerospace-grade engineering. Whether supporting Work Class ROVs in offshore oil fields or Observation Class vehicles in marine research, our components define reliability.

Next-Generation Subsea Propulsion

The heart of any ROV is its propulsion system. AIMRSE thrusters represent the pinnacle of fluid dynamics engineering and electromechanical efficiency. Traditional hydraulic thrusters, while powerful, are plagued by potential fluid leaks and complex valve packs. Our focus has shifted towards magnetically coupled electric thrusters, which isolate the stator from the water without dynamic shaft seals. This design eliminates the most common failure point in subsea robotics—water ingress through the shaft seal.

Our electric thrusters utilize brushless DC (BLDC) motors with sensorless commutation, providing instant torque response and precise RPM control. This is critical for station-keeping applications where the ROV must maintain a fixed position against strong currents for detailed welding or inspection tasks. The propellers are molded from high-impact composite polymers, designed with a high disk area ratio to minimize cavitation noise—essential for acoustic-sensitive naval and biological research missions.

Pressure Compensation

Oil-filled, pressure-balanced housings ensure internal pressure matches ambient pressure, preventing housing collapse even at Mariana Trench depths.

Thermal Management

Housings designed with integrated heat dissipation fins utilize the surrounding seawater as an infinite heat sink for high-power electronics.

Magnetic Coupling

Torque is transferred via magnetic fields through a solid titanium wall, creating a hermetically sealed unit with zero leakage paths.

Manipulation & Intervention Tooling

Intervention capability is what distinguishes an ROV from a simple camera platform. AIMRSE offers a range of manipulators from simple 1-function grabbers to sophisticated 7-function spatially correspondent master/slave arms. Our robotic end-effectors are crafted from Grade 5 Titanium (Ti-6Al-4V) and Type 316L Stainless Steel, selected for their exceptional strength-to-weight ratios and immunity to pitting corrosion.

Hydraulic vs. Electric Actuation

While the industry is trending toward electric, heavy-duty work class tasks (such as turning valve interfaces or cutting thick steel cables) still require the power density of hydraulics. AIMRSE supplies compact hydraulic power units (HPUs) and valve packs that integrate seamlessly into existing ROV hydraulic circuits. For scientific sampling or delicate archaeological recovery, our electric manipulators offer programmable force feedback, allowing operators to "feel" the object they are grasping, preventing damage to fragile biological specimens.

Deep Sea Vision & Illumination

Visibility in the deep ocean is often comprised by turbidity (marine snow) and the total absence of natural light. AIMRSE’s vision systems are engineered to overcome these limitations. Our 4K UHD Subsea Cameras feature large sensors with exceptional low-light sensitivity (0.001 Lux), coupled with optically corrected dome ports that eliminate geometric distortion caused by the refractive index of water. This is crucial for photogrammetry applications where 3D models of subsea structures are generated from 2D video feeds.

Global Compliance & Quality Assurance

Our quality management system is certified to ISO 9001:2015. For subsea components, we offer material traceability according to EN 10204 3.1. Every critical part undergoes non-destructive testing (NDT), including Dye Penetrant Inspection (DPI) and Ultrasonic Testing (UT), ensuring zero-defect delivery.

Standards: ASTM, ASME, MIL-SPEC, DNV-GL Compliant.

Operational Longevity & Maintenance

Purchasing a component is the beginning of a partnership. AIMRSE provides comprehensive maintenance kits for all dynamic parts. We understand that ROV downtime costs thousands of dollars per hour. Therefore, our parts utilize modular designs allowing for rapid field replacement. Wear items like sacrificial anodes, O-ring seals, and connector pigtails are standardized to ensure global availability.

Galvanic Corrosion Protection: All dissimilar metals in our assemblies are electrically isolated using PEEK or Delrin spacers. Furthermore, we calculate the precise surface area required for sacrificial Zinc or Aluminum anodes to protect the main housing for a service life of up to 5 years without intervention.

Why Partner With AIMRSE?

Hyperbaric Validation

We don't guess; we test. Every production batch of thrusters and housings is sample-tested in our onsite 10,000 PSI chamber to ensure depth ratings are conservative, not theoretical.

Strategic Logistics

Downtime offshore costs thousands per hour. We maintain stock of critical spares (thruster props, seal kits, camera domes) near major hubs like Houston, Aberdeen, and Singapore.

Custom Retrofitting

Need a manipulator to fit an older vehicle frame? Our engineering team can modify mounting plates and hydraulic interfaces to integrate modern tools with legacy ROV systems.

25-Year Service Life

We use exclusively Grade 5 Titanium and Hard Anodized 6061-T6 Aluminum. Our components are engineered to withstand prolonged saltwater exposure without galvanic degradation.

Technical FAQ

Are your thrusters compatible with SeaEye or Schilling control systems?
Yes. Our electric thrusters support standard PWM and RS-485 control signals, making them compatible with most commercial ROV control stacks, including Saab SeaEye and Blue Robotics systems. For hydraulic units, we provide adapter plates for Schilling manipulator arms.
What depth ratings are available for your camera housings?
Our standard inventory is rated to 3,000 meters (Titanium/Sapphire glass). However, we offer 'Full Ocean Depth' (6,000m and 11,000m) configurations upon request, utilizing specialized ceramic housings and borosilicate viewports.
Do you provide material certification for offshore compliance?
Absolutely. All pressure-retaining components ship with EN 10204 3.1 Material Certificates. We can also provide DNV-GL witnessing for specific load tests if your project requires third-party class verification.
How do you handle galvanic corrosion in mixed-metal assemblies?
We strictly adhere to galvanic isolation principles. All stainless steel fasteners are installed with Tef-Gel and use PEEK or Delrin isolation washers when mounting to Aluminum chassis. Sacrificial anodes are pre-installed on all major aluminum components.
Can I order a custom cable assembly for the connectors?
Yes. While we stock standard pigtails (1m length), we have an in-house molding facility to create custom cable assemblies with specific pinouts, lengths, and polyurethane over-molding to match your vehicle's tether specifications.
