KOH Potassium Hydroxide
Catalog NO.: AIMRSE-CHM-ADD-007 Manufacturer PN: CHM-ALK-POT
• Provides potassium ions as a shale inhibitor; controls the pH and alkalinity of the drilling fluid.
Potassium salts can replace sodium hydroxide in drilling fluids to raise pH and serve as shale inhibitors.
Potassium hydroxide, commonly known as caustic potash, exhibits strong alkalinity and corrosiveness. It can replace sodium hydroxide in potassium salt drilling fluids to control alkalinity, and potassium ions demonstrate stronger shale inhibition than sodium ions. Potassium hydroxide is highly corrosive, requiring extreme caution during handling. Onsite application must not involve funnel addition. It should first be dissolved in water within the mud tank, added slowly, and then incorporated into the mud system.
