Catalog NO.: AIMRSE-CHM-ADD-143 Manufacturer PN: CHM-BEN-PRE

Key Features

An economical, high-quality viscosifier that meets API standards; compared to other clay types, this product is more suitable for viscosity increase, suspension, and reducing fluid loss due to its higher degree of hydration; the clay particles have a small size and flat shape, resulting in a large specific surface area and significant fluid loss reduction effect.

Applications

Increases viscosity and shear stress to enhance wellbore cleaning capacity, reduce fluid loss, and form a thin yet resilient mud cake; improves wellbore stability in poorly cemented formations.

This thickener is a high-quality sodium bentonite produced through a fine grinding process, meeting both GB national standards and API specifications. One ton of this product can formulate 16m³ of drilling fluid with a viscosity of 15mPa·s. It is primarily used in water-based drilling fluids to form mud cake, reduce fluid loss, and suspend cuttings and barite. Inorganic salts inhibit the hydration and dispersion of bentonite, resulting in differing slurry formation rates in fresh water versus salt water. Slurry formation rates are lower in salt water, particularly when chloride ion content exceeds 10,000 ppm, where bentonite's slurry-forming capacity significantly diminishes. Pre-hydrating bentonite in fresh water before adding it to salt water can enhance its slurry formation rate in saline conditions.
