Quicklime
Catalog NO.: AIMRSE-CHM-ADD-010 Manufacturer PN: CHM-LIM-QCK
• Provides a low-cost source of calcium ions and alkalinity; increases pH.
Increase pH; provide excess lime for bentonite slurry flocculation to remove carbonate ions dissolved in water-based drilling fluids; control corrosion; activate emulsifiers in oil-based drilling fluids via saponification reaction.
Calcium hydroxide, also known as slaked lime, serves as a source of calcium and alkalinity in both water-based and oil-based drilling fluids. Slaked lime is a widely used chemical material and a low-cost raw material for supplying calcium ions and hydroxide ions.
| Type | Alkalinity Regulators |
| Recommended Dosage | Add calcium hydroxide to the lime-based drilling fluid system to maintain alkalinity; although calcium hydroxide can remove dissolved carbonate ions, it is not needed in drilling fluids with a pH already above 11. |
