Sulfonated Phenolic Resin (SMP)

Sulfonated Phenolic Resin (SMP) is a high-performance, high-temperature fluid-loss additive capable of withstanding bottom-hole temperatures up to 200C. It provides strong hydrophilicity and thermal stability via sulfonic acid groups on the molecular chain, effectively controlling fluid loss under HPHT conditions. SMP also enhances mud lubricity, reducing sticking risks. Its good compatibility allows it to work synergistically with various polymer and clay systems, making it indispensable for deep and ultra-deep well drilling fluid architectures.
