Ultra-Short Baseline Underwater Positioning System
Catalog NO.: AIMRSE-ROV-PRT-024 Manufacturer PN: ROV-POS-USBL
• High positioning accuracy; High portability; Multi-target tracking; Low power consumption
ROV positioning and navigation tasks; remote control and positioning of sensors and equipment.
The Ultra-Short Baseline Underwater Positioning System comprises acoustic communication positioning software, ultra-short baseline beacons, and responder beacons. Its compact, portable design supports communication ranges exceeding 1000 meters, enabling simultaneous tracking of multiple underwater beacon targets and bidirectional data exchange. It is applicable for positioning navigation and real-time monitoring of underwater platforms such as ROVs and AUVs.
| Principle | Sonar Q&A: The surface unit transmits coded sonar “interrogations, ” which are received by underwater transponders that return “answers, ” establishing two-way communication. Time-of-Flight Ranging: Calculates target slant range using signal round-trip time and sound velocity (approx. 1500 m/s). Encoding technology resists noise interference. Array Direction Finding: Surface ultra-short baseline transducer array (multiple receivers) detects minute time/phase differences in signal arrival, analyzing azimuth and pitch angles. 3D Positioning: Combines range and angle data to convert into 3D coordinates relative to the water surface unit. Integrates GPS and attitude information to map the global position. Environmental Calibration: Dynamically corrects sound velocity (affected by temperature/salinity/depth), suppresses multipath reflection interference, and enhances accuracy. |
