Introduction

GigE Board-level Camera

A GigE Board-level Camera is a high-performance industrial imaging module stripped of its external housing to provide maximum integration flexibility. Designed for OEMs and system integrators, these cameras utilize the Gigabit Ethernet (GigE) interface to deliver reliable, high-bandwidth data over distances up to 100 meters. By combining the power of industrial CMOS sensors with a minimal physical footprint, board-level cameras are the ideal choice for embedding high-grade vision into medical instruments, automated kiosks, and space-constrained robotic systems without sacrificing the professional features of standard industrial cameras.

Working Principle

1. Bare-Sensor Capture

The high-sensitivity CMOS sensor captures optical data through an M12 or C-mount lens, converting photons into digital signals directly on the bare PCB.

2. Embedded Logic

An onboard FPGA manages image preprocessing, including gain control, exposure timing, and defect pixel correction, while optimizing for low power consumption.

3. Packetization

The digital frames are encapsulated into GigE Vision packets, ensuring deterministic data transfer and error correction over standard Ethernet protocols.

4. PoE Integration

Power is delivered simultaneously with data via the Ethernet cable (Power over Ethernet), reducing internal system wiring complexity and weight.
