Chip electrode/circuit probing, piercing passivation layers
The WG series hard needle is made from a 0.020 inch (0.51mm) diameter tungsten shank, precision electrochemically processed to achieve various tip diameters. It is 1.5 inches (38.1mm) long and is used for the vast majority of chip electrode and circuit probing applications. It can also be used to scratch or pierce chip surface passivation layers. An optional gold-plated version is available, which offers lower contact resistance and prevents oxidation.
